Scholarship for (1) MEDICAL RESEARCH and (2) TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIPS are open to graduates in Medicine of the four Scottish Universities, i.e. Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and St Andrews (or Dundee); (3) Senior Elective Scholarships are open to Medical Students of the above Universities, and (4) Intercalated or Second Degree Scholarships and (4) Intercalated or Second Degree Scholarships are open to Medical Students of the above Universities.
RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS
Tenable for one year and not exceeding £500 but renewable at the discretion of the Trustees. They are granted for original research in any of the following subjects: - Medicine, including Psychiatry; Surgery including Orthopaedics; Medical and Surgical Paediatrics and Child Health; Pathology including Pathological Chemistry; Bacteriology including Virology; Hygiene and Public Health; Radiology and Electronics; Physiology and Physiological Chemistry. Applications must be lodged with the Secretaries by 31 January each year.
TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIPS
Normally about £250 and tenable for such period as the Trustees may decide after consideration of an approved itinerary. Candidates for Scholarships must be nominated by a Professor/Lecturer in a Scottish University or by a Teacher in Scotland recognised for the purpose of graduation in Medicine by a Scottish University. Applications will be considered as and when received by the Secretaries.
SENIOR ELECTIVE SCHOLARSHIPS
Normally about £200 and tenable for period of elective. Application form must be accompanied by a Report from the Dean or Clerk to the Faculty of University at which student is studying and must be lodged with. Secretaries by 31 January each year.
INTERCALATED OR SECOND DEGREE SCHOLARSHIPS
Normally about £300 - £500. Application form must be lodged with the Secretaries by 31st January each year and must be accompanied by a Report from the Dean or Clerk to the Faculty of University at which student is studying. Nominations must be made on a printed form obtainable from the Secretaries, Messrs Mitchells Roberton, George House, 36 North Hanover Street, Glasgow G1 2AD
All awards are entirely at the discretion of the Trustees
