Expectations and Behaviours
Throughout Year 5 we would expect you to behave in a professional manner at all times. as detailed in the student handbook. In addition we would also expect you to respect any local customs or regulations which may be in place.
Here are some key points you should consider
- Respect other people and their property at all times, both in and out of the clinical setting;
- Observe local customs - social and religious;
- Be aware of the local laws on such things as alcohol consumption;
- Be aware of how to deal with any issues of lack of consent before operations or lack of confidentiality
- Be aware of how to deal with being asked to perform a procedure you do not feel qualified to perform
- Are there any local rules on clothing, covering skin, etc?
- Would the local people be offended by the taking of photographss?
- Have you considered that some areas may not allow use of binoculars or cameras?
- Do you know which papers you should carry with you at all times?
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office website will provide advice on a lot of the local customs and we would recommend you check this thoroughly.
