An interactive multi-media installation has been created by as part of the Sound Festival and can be seen this week at The Sir Duncan Rice Library.

Entitled Intermedia Installation (2012), the piece is the culmination of Three Cities, a tripartite project between artists based at the University of Aberdeen, Grieg Academy, Bergen and Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory, St Petersburg.

The work combines specially recorded video and soundscapes with interactive technologies Visitors are welcome to engage with this work by creating music and sound art themselves, via computers and sound transformation software.  The music events themselves will not affect the general environment of the Library, so please visit the Area and create and see your own soundscape!

The Library is also hosting original photographs by Nick Rawle accompanied by new music and songs by Matilda Brown in the exhibition, Matilda’s Music and Mountains. Sound and image are carefully compiled and integrated from a series of wilderness journeys through the mountains, where the artists stayed in bothies across the Highlands of Scotland.Visitors are encouraged to use the headphones to experience this piece which can be found outside The Gallery.

Intermedia Installation (2012) and Matilda’s Music and Mountains form part of Sound, North East Scotland’s festival of new music
