Evening Lecture in association with University of Aberdeen Museums and Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
James W.H. Trail and John McPherson were graduates of the University of Aberdeen whose medical studies opened opportunities for them in the Americas. Trail spent 18 months on an expedition to uncharted sections of the Amazon and its tributaries in the 1870s, while McPherson lived most of his adult life in Mexico, witnessing the country’s 1910 revolution and its aftermath. This talk will discuss the lives of these two men, as well as their experiences in the Americas and the collections they donated to the University of Aberdeen.
