We are happy and excited to welcome all new and returning students for the new academic year.
Library staff are here to assist and support you in your studies and research. Our extensive physical collections can be found in our four libraries:

Our Digital Collections are constantly growing and evolving alongside the print materials. Finally, the Special Collections Centre and Gallery are based in the Sir Duncan Rice Library and regularly showcase exhibitions and events.
Learn to Use Your Library
During Welcome Week (11th-15th September), the Sir Duncan Rice Library will be holding Introductory Talks and Tours. These events will give you a chance to see the award-winning library building, meet some of our friendly staff and ask any questions. To book a place, please use our Course Booking system.
Learn to Use Your Library is a springboard for you to interact with our collection via our Library catalogue Primo. You can also find out more about using your student card as your Library card and where to go for help and advice.
Arrivals & Wellbeing Hub
Based in the Linklater Rooms, this is a series of drop-in events running from the 11th-22nd September to fully welcome you to the University of Aberdeen. Here, you can:
- Collect your student ID Card
- Find out more about University life, particularly the wealth of support on offer.
- Play games and win prizes
- Enjoy a 'fly cup' and a 'fancy piece' (Doric for a tea or coffee and cakes)

Virtual Tour
If you aren't able to join us in person, please use our Self Guided Tour of the Sir Duncan Rice Library. Library staff have prepared both basic information and more detailed guides into navigating the collection and Primo. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Site Libraries
The Taylor and Medical Libraries specifically contain our medical and law collections; offering specialized support for students in both these subject areas.
