This February and March, we are celebrating the achievements of women and girls in science: several of whom were trailblazers in their time, and whose research and work is making a profound difference in the world. Recently, February 11th marked the 9th Women & Girls in Science Day, with the assembly focusing on sustainability and climate change.
Several individuals and departments in the University of Aberdeen are following in their contemporaries footsteps: from exploring artificial intelligence, analysing medical data and exploring new ideas & concepts across the world. If you would like to find out more about the interdisciplinary nature of this work, please check out the Explore our Research webpages.
The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is 'Inspire Inclusion'. From 4-14th March, several of our academics and researchers will be holding events and a symposium to showcase their work, and discuss the issues, challenges and triumphs of researching in these fields and challenging stereotypes and gender bias. On this theme, the directors of this event are actively involved in organisations like the Women in Academia Support Network. Further information on these events can be found on the International Women's Day webpages.
Library staff are actively maintaining the International Women & Girls in Science Day Reading List, and have also created a broader list for all International Women's Day resources.
We welcome suggestions and recommendations to improve our collections, so if you have any ideas, please fill out this form.
Thank you.
