Abstract:

"This lecture will highlight the cultural and societal pressures on victims to conform to the behaviour codes set within the communities they live in. It will also highlight the challenges for law enforcement and the risks that victims face in coming forward to report matters to the police. Three case studies from England will be discussed."

MR Vice Principal for People Strategy notes “I am delighted to see that, so soon after the International Women’s Day Conference, students and staff will be able to hear from another inspiring woman. Neelam Sarkaria is an honorary lecturer in the School of Law and we are delighted to welcome her on campus to talk about a topic which presents such challenges for individuals, society and the law. I look forward to highlighting other events throughout the year in which Inspiring Women will be giving talks and would be delighted to hear of other such events which are planned by staff or students.”
