Digital technology is omnipresent in the refugee’s migration journey. Thus, biometric registration of refugees is resorted to by the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees in camps and drones are used to map the latter. In addition, artificial intelligence is mobilized at borders and by asylum qualification bodies.

This situation is a source of challenges and opportunities for the protection of the fundamental rights of refugees and for the respect of the right to asylum.
