Alanoud Khalid Albargan

Alanoud’s current research focuses on critically investigating and appraising the robustness corporate governance legal reform of Saudi Arabia National Oil Company within the Saudi Vision 2030 and Saudi Aramco IPO 2030 case study. AL-Anoud’s research focuses on improving and raising the level of Corporate governance for Saudi Aramco to attain the contemporary and best global corporate governance legal standards and practices. Alanoud holds LLB (King Saud University, Riyadh Saudi Arabia, 2012) and LLM in International Corporate Finance Law (University of Reading, 2015, UK). Alanoud is a Lecturer in Commercial Law in University of Taibah, Saudi Arabia.

Mahmoud Ashami

Mahmoud is a 2nd year PhD candidate at Aberdeen Law School, his PhD research lies on the protection of minority shareholders in Libyan company law to identify the best legal effective solutions for this class of shareholders. Particularly, his study focuses on the substantive protective mechanisms of protecting small and individual investors in companies under Libyan law rather than the judicial remedies for the oppression occurred against the minority shareholders. Mahmoud's interested research area includes corporate governance, company law, e-commerce and contact law. He was awarded two master's degrees in law. The first one was awarded to him by The University of Sheffield in 2016 specialised in (Corporate and Commercial law). He achieved the second law master’s degree in Arabic language in March 2019 at Tripoli University in Libya specialised in contract law.

Ahmet Ferhat Baran

Ferhat is a PhD researcher at the University of Aberdeen. His research mainly focuses on the relationship between international investment law and the Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL). He completed his bachelor's degree in law at Istanbul University in 2017. Following his graduation, he completed a one-year legal internship process and became an attorney at law associated with Istanbul Bar Association. After practicing law for a few years, he studied LLM in International Law at the University of Exeter and graduated in 2021. After his LLM study, he joined a PhD programme at the University of Aberdeen in January 2023.

Soibi Bob-Manuel

Soibi’s thesis employs a socio-legal method to investigate and proffer optimal pathways for encouraging and promoting effective transfer of climate change technologies to developing countries, with a focus on China and Nigeria. Soibi aims to explore the nexus between social development, protection of intellectual property rights and global response to climate change. Before commencing her PhD, Soibi completed an LL.M in Oil and Gas Law (with Distinction) from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Soibi also practiced law in Nigeria, and her practice areas included corporate commercial, oil and gas law, intellectual property, energy and natural resources, and regulatory compliance

Gabriel Uchechi Emeasoba

Gabriel Uchechi Emeasoba is a First Class graduate of the University of Lagos. After being called to the Nigerian bar in 2018, he worked as a legal associate in a commercial law firm in Lagos, Nigeria, before joining the University of Aberdeen for his LLM, where he excellently majored in International Commercial Law. His sterling performance contributed to his being awarded a PhD Merit Scholarship by the Faculty of Law, University of Aberdeen for his doctorate research, which focuses on developing global legal standards for electronic trade and trade financing. He has background in Philosophy and Education, and is a qualified arbitrator, mediator and teacher.

Ibiere Jumbo

Ibiere is a Ph.D. researcher at the University of Aberdeen School of Law. Her current research interests centre around the effectiveness of regional instrument in catalysing renewable energy development at national level, with specific focus on the ECOWAS legal instrument on renewable energy and how it compels renewable electricity development in member states. Her research is funded by the Nigerian Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).Ibiere completed her Masters in Energy and Environmental Law (LL.M) at the University of Aberdeen in 2018. She further holds an LL. B (Hons) in Law from the University of Nigeria in 2014 and she is licenced to practice law in Nigeria. Ibiere also has interest in commercial law and regulatory compliance. She has experience working in this area of practice and has been involved with standardisation of commercial systems as it concerns commercial contracting, procurement functions and contract management for organisations in Nigeria.

Beverley M. Lamenya

Beverley is a Post Graduate Researcher at the University of Aberdeen. Her research interests are around energy security and energy governance. Beverley is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Oil and Gas from the University of Aberdeen and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Peace Studies and International Relations from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). She also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the same university and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. Beverley is currently a Legal Adviser at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), United Kingdom. Prior to joining BEIS, she worked at the Ministry of Justice, United Kingdom. She also worked at the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice in Kenya as a State Counsel under the Treaties and Agreements Department and the Legal Advisory and Research Division (LARD).

Bashman Mohammed

Bashman Mohammed is currently undertaking doctoral research within the framework of worker participation in corporate governance at Aberdeen Law School. He is a Senior Program Officer with American Center for International Labor Solidarity (Solidarity Center).He holds a Master of Laws with a Merit from the University of London, United Kingdom and attended the Nigerian Law School and the University of Ilorin where he graduated with Second Class Upper Division respectively. He also completed a diploma program in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic Offa with a Distinction.Bashman enjoys memberships of professional bodies and progressive associations spans from Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), International Lawyers Association Assisting Workers (ILAW), to the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA). Bashman’s first-hand encounters with the far-reaching consequences of unfair labor practices and abuses while growing up in an industrial estate in northeastern Nigeria informed his early life decision to study law and passion for social justice in the workspace.

Liam Moorhouse

Liam is a PhD candidate at the University of Aberdeen law school. He completed his LLB (First class Hons) at the University of Aberdeen in 2022 and was awarded a PhD Merit Scholarship in 2023. He developed his passion for all things IT Regulation during his LLB, with his honours dissertation being titled ‘Why we should look a gift horse in the mouth: The need for a group right to privacy in the age of online behavioural advertising’. Liam’s research examines novel regulatory solutions for the commercialisation of biometric and health data, drawing inspiration from non-western perspectives on privacy. His research interests lie in data protection, AI, health & biometric data, and regulating surveillance capitalism.

Sartika Nanda

Sartika is a PhD student at the School of Law, University of Aberdeen. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Law (2010) from Universitas Diponegoro, Indonesia and hold double degree LLM in Intellectual Property from the National University Malaysia, Malaysia and Universitas Diponegoro, Indonesia (2012). Currently, Sartika worked as a lecturer in Universitas Diponegoro specialising in intellectual property right. She has written about intellectual property issues including copyright and music, patents and the pharmaceutical sector. At present, her PhD research is about the protection of Traditional Cultural Expressions (TCEs) in creative industries, with specific focus on Indonesia and New Zealand

Ilya Sukhanov

Ilya joined the University of Aberdeen as an undergraduate in 2015 to study Law with English Law. He soon became interested in commercial law. During his International Commercial Law LLM, this interest grew into a deeper query of how to effectively structure the legal relationship between businesses and the government. His PhD research, which was stimulated by the 2008 Crisis and continually corporate scandals in UK, seeks to unveil the fundamental deficiencies in the current regime of corporate regulation.

Le Xuan Tung

Mr. Le Xuan Tung has joined the School of Law, University of Aberdeen as PhD candidate since October, 2022. He held a Bachelor of Law degree from the Hanoi Law University, Vietnam and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Huddersfield, UK (with Distinction). He is currently employed as a Legal Researcher at the Department of International Law of the Institute of Legal Studies, Ministry of Justice of Vietnam. In this role, Tung specialises on matters of Private International Law, and has worked on a number of reports and recommendations related to the Hague Children’s Conventions, specifically from the Vietnamese perspective. Tung has recently been selected to represent Vietnam at the 2022 Council on General Affairs and Policy of the Hague Conference on Private International Law meeting, as part of a five-member delegation of Ministry of Justice. His further research interests include: International commercial law, EU Law, arbitration, comparative law.

Baffour Yiadom-Boakye

Baffour joined the School of Law as a PhD researcher in September 2019. His research focuses on analysing party autonomy and the role of local courts in international arbitration. His research interest is in international arbitration and international commercial law. Baffour obtained an (LLM) in International Commercial Law with Professional Skills (Distinction) from the University of Aberdeen in 2017. Baffour has been called to the bar in the Republic of Ghana. Baffour has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and (B.A) Psychology with Sociology degree both from the University of Ghana.

Dawn Zaiter

Dawn is a PhD researcher at the University of Aberdeen. She has been awarded the School of Law PhD Merit Scholarship from the same university. Dawn is interested in corporate governance. Her research focuses on whether corporate reporting system is efficient, or there is a need for another level of reporting. Before arriving to Aberdeen to accomplish a master’s degree in International Commercial Law in 2020, Dawn worked as a lawyer in Lebanon. She is a registered member at the Beirut Bar Association. Dawn’s LLM Dissertation was about The Balance Between Shareholder and Stakeholder Interests in UK Company Law (2020).
