Professor Katarina Trimmings, Dr Onyója Momoh and Konstantina Kalaitasoglou have published an article entitled "The Interplay between the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and Domestic Violence" in Freeman M. and Taylor N. (eds) Special Issue "Contemporary Issues Relating to International Child Abduction in Contemplation of the Eighth Special Commission into the Operation of the 1980 Hague Child Abduction Convention (2023)."
This timely issue and co-authored paper comes ahead of the Hague Conference on Private International Law's Eighth Special Commission taking place next week on the practical operation of the 1980 Hague Convention and the 1996 Hague Convention. The article explores, amongst others, domestic violence in the context of the 1980 Convention and safeguarding returning parents, the best interests of the child, human rights and international refugee law, and legislative interventions.
