Dr Patricia Živković will speak tomorrow at the workshop organised by Nottingham Trent University, which aims to explore the intersections between law and artificial intelligence. Patricia will present the emerging issues related to the development of neurotechnology and emotion detection AI systems. The talk is based on a paper Patricia is currently working on that will critically investigate the ethical and legal concerns arising from neurotechnology and emotion detection systems, specifically focusing on biometric data and health-related data. The paper will give particular attention to addressing socially and economically vulnerable citizens, such as people with disabilities, children, workers, and consumers. It will seek to strike a balance between the societal benefits offered by these technologies and their potential impact on privacy, dignity, and overall human sustainability. The analysis also evaluates the robustness and adequacy of the ICO's report and guidance in this domain.
