Dr Onyoja Momoh was invited to speak at the 25th Annual Family Law Conference in Cape Town, held on 8th to 10th March 2023. Her last attendance was in 2020 where she presented on the POAM project, see Law School coverage. This was a high level family law conference that combined presentations, workshops, and consultations on issues around international family law. Onyoja spoke on two panels, on day 1 she presented at the judges workshop, and gave a paper titled ‘An overview on Intercountry Adoptions and the 1993 Hague Convention’ with a focus on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and UNCRC. On day 2, she presented on developments in international family law in Nigeria, with a focus on the cross border movement of children in the context of child abduction and inter-country adoptions – looking at it from efforts at federal and state government level to judiciary and practice.
