Dr Burcu Yüksel Ripley has been appointed as the Director, and Dr Titilayo Adebola and Dr Qiang Cai have been appointed as the Associate Directors for the Centre for Commercial Law. Their vision is guided by the Aberdeen 2040 strategy and they are committed to pursuing and delivering it together with all Centre members (staff, postgraduate research students and associates) across corporate and commercial law, international trade law, intellectual property and technology law, and dispute resolution.
Dr Yüksel Ripley’s main areas of expertise are in international trade and finance law, international commercial dispute resolution, law and technology (in particular digitalisation, distributed ledger technology/blockchain and virtual/digital/cryptocurrencies) and Turkish law. Prior to this appointment and since the Centre’s establishment in 2018, she took on the roles of Co-Director and Associate Director for the Centre. Dr Titilayo Adebola’s main areas of expertise are in international economic law, in particular, the intersections of intellectual property rights and food/agriculture law. She was also recently appointed as a Senior Advisor to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food. Dr Cai’s main expertise lies in tax law, comparative tax law and international taxation.
