Last month, the Research Centre for Constitutional and Public International Law organised an expert conference on international refugee law: comparative policy perspectives from Asia and Europe. Featuring law faculty members and researchers from Kobe University (Japan), the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (London) and De Montfort University (Leicester), the aim of this conference was to stimulate interest and research in these topics for the student and academic community in Scotland through a friendly scholastic exploration of this immensely topical subject. Presentations addressed, amongst others, human rights and humanitarian law aspects of the ongoing refugee crisis and the implications of anthropogenic climate change on maritime migration across jurisdictions.
