This week Equinor announced its decision to abandon plans drill for oil in the Great Australian Bight. Our professor Tina Soliman Hunter has been continuously involved in providing advice on the dangers of operating in that area. In May last year, she was part of the group of multi-disciplinary experts, who made a submission to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA), highlighting the risks inherent in Equinor’s proposal. Prof Soliman Hunter has co-authored a piece in the Conversation on her involvement with the analysis of risks and relevant regulations. https://theconversation.com/equinor-has-abandoned-oil-drilling-plans-in-the-great-australian-bight-so-whats-next-132435
