The recent Experts’ Group meeting on cross-border recognition and enforcement of agreements in family disputes involving children took place in the Hague between 14- 16 June 2017. The meeting was chaired by Professor Paul Beaumont. The Experts’ Group is made up of judges, legal practitioners, government officials and academics from all parts of the world (including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Colombia, EU, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA). The Experts’ Group is making good progress on a navigation tool on how the current Hague Conventions can facilitate cross-border family agreements involving children and is unanimously asking the governing body of the Conference (its Council) to approve a mandate to start work on a new Treaty to make family agreements involving children much easier to enforce across borders.
