New Research Report on Mental Health and ‘Stuck Parents’ Co-authored by Dr. Momoh
Dr. Momoh has co-authored a groundbreaking report titled International Child Law: The Mental Health Effects on Stuck Parents, in collaboration with GlobalARRK and Dr. Laura Kean. This report, based on empirical research, explores the mental health challenges faced by parents involved in international custody disputes who are unable to return to their home countries with their children. In the report, Onyója looks at the legal background, examining in particular the decisions of Re S (A Child) (Article 13 (b): Abduction: Mental Health) [2023] EWCA Civ 208 and Re A (Article 13(b): Mental Ill-health) [2023] EWHC 2082 (Fam).”The findings reveal significant risks of depression, anxiety, and PTSD for these parents. The report also offers policy recommendations to address these concerns.
