Ms Hikari Saito’s presentation proposal on ‘Challenges against the Myth of the Singapore Convention on Mediation’ based on her PhD research was accepted for Speed Share, a 10 min presentation at the ABA Dispute Resolution annual spring conference (virtual conference held between 14 and 17 April 2021).
Additionally, Ms Saito was awarded a full scholarship to defray the registration fees of the Conference.
The American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution is the world’s largest membership organisation for dispute resolution, especially mediation. This year’s conference theme is ‘Agility, Disruption and Reinvention: ADR in a New World.’
Ms Saito is a PhD student under supervision of Prof Roy Partain and Dr Gloria Alvarez. Ms Saito is an alumnus of Aberdeen (LLM 2018), and also has an LLM from Kobe University (Japan); she is also a CEDR Accredited Mediator. Ms Saito shows sincere gratitude towards her supervisors and to Emeritus Professor Margaret Ross who originally encouraged Ms Saito to apply for the Conference.
