Dr Katarina Trimmings obtains funding for EU reseach project on protection of abducting mothers.

Dr Katarina Trimmings has obtained funding for a major collaborative project titled 'Protection of Abducting Mothers in Return Proceedings: Intersection between Domestic Violence and Parental Child Abduction' (POAM Project)

The project, which is funded by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020), will start on 1st January 2019. Dr Isla Callander is the co-investigator and Dr Onyoja Momoh will work on the project as the research assistant. The project will last for two years and the research consortium involves three partner universities from across the European Union (Munich University (Germany), Milan University (Italy) and the University of Osijek (Croatia)).

The key objective of the project is to develop good practice and ensure that relevant legal professionals are trained in the application of the Regulation 606/2013 on mutual recognition of protection measures in civil matters and the Directive 2011/99/EU on the European Protection Order in child abductions committed against the background of domestic violence.
