Service Description

An intuitive, bespoke system to support teaching of medical, dental, physician associate and medical science students. Incorporating a number of silo services to support delivery of the above curriculum, MyVLE is used by over 1000 students and hundreds of staff on a daily basis to enhance the student experience.

Users

  • UoA staff associated with teaching student group or administration of course.
  • NHS staff associated with teaching student group or administration of course.
  • All medical, dental, physician associate and medical science students.
  • External students from other institutions associated with courses can be granted access.

Service Hours

  • 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year

Level of Service

  • Developed, maintained and administered by Learning Technologies with delegated administration to course administrators for many features with the VLE.
  • Service is hosted on UoA MySQL infrastructure with backups according to ITS policy.

Support and Documentation

  • All technical support is provided by Learning Technologies
  • User guides for staff and students contained within the VLE
  • Custom face to face or group training can be arranged and delivered by Learning Technologies

Request Process

For example:

  • External and Internal users can request access from the login page
    • Request is then processed by Learning Technologies, course administrators are contacted when necessary
  • Requests can also come to Learning Technologies at learning-technologies@abdn.ac.uk , x7032 or in person in room 0:036 of the Polwarth Building.

  • Free service provided to internal and external staff and students as detailed above.
