What is happening?
The University of Aberdeen is receiving a large amount of phishing and virus emails today purporting to be from your own email address with the subject line “Attachement”.
What should you do?
These phishing emails are sophisticated and can contain details that deliberately mimic University contacts. Please be aware these spam emails are designed to harvest login details.
The excel attachment contains a macro based “zero-day” virus embedded within. We strongly recommended when opening Office documents that you DO NOT click to enable macros.
Please do not respond or open any links / attachments. Please delete these from your Inbox and if you have followed any links or clicked on any attachments, please contact the Service Desk.
