New License agreement for Adobe Acrobat Professional
IT Services are pleased to announce a new site licensing agreement for Adobe Acrobat Pro and also the Adobe Creative Suite software packages. This license gives us the ability to run the latest version of these Adobe products.
How do I get Acrobat Pro?
Adobe Acrobat Pro is available free of charge. To access the package, please follow the relevant instructions below.
Staff and research postgraduate students
Windows user
- Before attempting to install Acrobat Pro, please close all applications.
- Download the latest version – Adobe Acrobat XI Pro – from the Software Center on your network PC or Windows laptop:
Start Menu > All Programs > Microsoft System Center 2012 > Configuration Manager > Software Center
- Select Acrobat from the list of available software and click Install.
For work at home use, Windows users can download Acrobat from the Software Download Service at www.abdn.ac.uk/local/download. Please note that the package is large; therefore, it may be best to download on campus and transfer via USB pen drive to home:
- Login with your University userid and password to www.abdn.ac.uk/local/download
- Browse to the Adobe/Windows/Acrobat Pro folder
- Accept the usage conditions and click on Download Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.exe
- Save the file to a location of your choice
- Before installing Acrobat Pro, please close all applications, including web browsers
- Locate and double click on the downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.exe file
Mac User
If you are a Mac user, you can download Acrobat from the Software Download Service at www.abdn.ac.uk/local/download for use on campus or for work at home use. Home users should note that the package is large; therefore, it may be best to download on campus and transfer via USB pen drive to home:
- Login with your University userid and password to www.abdn.ac.uk/local/download
- For the Mac version, browse to the Adobe/MAC/Acrobat Pro folder
- Accept the usage conditions and click on Download Adobe Pro X1.zip
- Before installing Acrobat Pro, please close all applications, including web browsers
- Double click on the Adobe Pro zip icon
Undergraduate and taught postgraduate students
Students will have access to the latest Acrobat Pro version on all classrooms PCs. This will be in place for the start of term.

Creative Suite Licenses
Adobe is now only licensing new Creative Suite software on a subscription basis. We will be in touch with current Adobe Creative Suite license holders regarding upgrading their software to the latest version. If you think you may need a new Creative Suite software license, please get in touch with the Service Desk (servicedesk@abdn.ac.uk) to discuss your requirements.
