What's happening?

On the evening of Friday 1 December we had a critical failure within the virtual server infrastructure at the university. Many services were impacted for a period of 24 hours including website hosting.

Teams telephony, for receiving external phone calls, was unavailable from Friday evening until 10am on Monday morning and is now operational again.

Internet connectivity and externally hosted services, such as Microsoft Teams access, SharePoint, and MyAberdeen, were not impacted.

Current Status

Almost all services are available but we have a reduced resilience at present.

Student Records: Some staff are currently unable to access Student Records. We are urgently investigating.

Cyber Security Lab: Cyber Security Lab is currently offline, though this has no impact as teaching has finished for this term.

What are we doing?

DIS are speaking to external supplier support experts to restore resilience to the infrastructure.

Due to university exams it may be that some of the fixes will be delayed until after the exam diet completes. University exams should not be impacted by the current loss of resilience.
