The University VDI service will be taken down for urgent related work from 5pm tonight, Monday 13 December. The VDI service will be completely unavailable until approximately 8am tomorrow.
What is happening
- There is a recently publicised critical IT vulnerability affecting servers and IT services across the world. The vulnerability is known as Log4Shell.
- There are already hundreds of articles published regarding this exploit:

- Like all large organisations the University of Aberdeen services are at risk to this potentially very damaging vulnerability. As a result we need to perform emergency IT maintenance.
What are we doing
- The University VDI service will be taken down for urgent related work from 5pm tonight, Monday 13 December.
- The VDI service will be completely unavailable until approximately 8am tomorrow.
What else do you need to know
- Due to the nature of this attack we may have to respond quickly to patch systems and services where vulnerabilities are identified.
- We will almost certainly have to perform emergency system updates in the coming days.
- Where possible we will provide notice of any IT work though this may not always be possible.
