AutoPlay to be disabled on classroom PCs - Friday 15 February

We are disabling AutoPlay on classroom PCs on Friday 15 February.

What is happening?

We are disabling AutoPlay on classroom PCs on Friday 15 February. This means your USB drive will no longer pop up automatically when you insert it into a classroom PC.

You can still access your USB drive via the This PC icon on the desktop, or from within programs such as MS Word by browsing the File > Open or File > Save/Save As dialogs.

Why is this happening?

We are disabling AutoPlay as part of our ongoing security measures. While AutoPlay is a convenient feature, it can also be exploited allowing malware and viruses to launch undetected from removable devices such as USB drives.
