Infohub

The Infohub is your one stop shop for all enquiries. If you have a question to ask that you cannot find the answer to on this website or in the FAQs, or are looking for advice the Infohub can help you.

The Infohub office is located at 91 High Street, Old Aberdeen.

Infohub offers the following services:

Bank Letters

New Students

You will need key documents to open your first student bank account:

  • A bank letter from the University
  • Your passport
  • Your Unconditional Letter of Acceptance (CAS Letter)
  • Proof of your Aberdeen address (such as accommodation contract)
  • Your visa (if applicable)

Once you have completed registration and have a home and term address showing in your Student Hub, a bank letter will be emailed to your university account.

If your preferred bank is not included in the electronic letter or if the bank has requested a letter addressed to them, you can request this by emailing infohub@abdn.ac.uk

International Students

You can access information on selecting and opening a bank account through the UKCISA website or through the British Bankers’ Association’s guide to opening a bank account.

Continuing Students

Please email infohub@abdn.ac.uk and a new bank letter will be produced for you. Please note, you must know the specific branch of the bank you wish to open an account with as this must be included in the letter the Infohub produces.

Confirmation of Registration

Student Certificate

This is free of charge and includes the following information:

  • Name and Date of Birth
  • ID Number
  • Degree Programme
  • Start date and expected end date 
  • Student Status: Full or Part Time
  • A signature

Confirmation of Registration Letter

When a Student Certificate is not sufficient, you can request a Confirmation of Registration Letter by emailing  infohub@abdn.ac.uk or the Online Store.

This states that you are a registered student and costs £10.

You may need to order this letter in advance as it may take up to five working days to produce during peak times.

Council Tax Exemption

Full time students are exempt from paying council tax.

The University will inform Aberdeen City Council of your student status when you are fully registered.

However, if you are asked by your Council for evidence of your student status, you can access your Council Tax Exemption Certificate by emailing infohub@abdn.ac.uk.

Confirmation of Completion of Studies

This letter is produced by the Registry team and can be ordered either by emailing undergraduate@abdn.ac.uk / postgraduate@abdn.ac.uk or via the Online Store for a cost of £15.

It includes the following information:

  • Name and ID number
  • Your programme of study
  • The start and end dates of your period of study
  • That you have successfully completed your programme of study
  • That you are eligible to graduate (if you have applied)

You can only access this letter once you have received all of your results. Please note that it is necessary to order this letter in advance as it may take up to five working days to produce during peak times.

Confirmation of Graduation

This letter can be accessed by emailing undergraduate@abdn.ac.uk / postgraduate@abdn.ac.uk or through the Online Store and costs £15.

It includes the following information:

  • Name and ID number
  • Your programme of study
  • The start and end dates of your period of study
  • That you have successfully completed your programme of study
  • The date that you graduated

You may need to order this letter in advance as it may take up to five working days to produce during peak times.

Transcripts

Your Transcript lists courses that you have undertaken during your time as a registered student.

The transcript indicates:

  •  The academic year in which a course has been taken
  • The credit value of a course
  • Any merit awards
  • The definition of the Common Grading Scale bands

Current students can purchase a copy of their transcript via the Infohub (although whilst we continue to work remotely, all transcripts can be ordered from Student Records - studentrecords@abdn.ac.uk). These cost £10 for one original and £2 per additional copy, up to a maximum of six copies.

You will receive one copy of your degree certificate and transcript free of charge. If you wish to purchase further copies at any time, the cost is £15 for one original and £2 per additional copy, up to a maximum of six copies.

Whilst we continue to work remotely, all Enhanced Transcripts can be ordered from Student Records - studentrecords@abdn.ac.uk.

Verifications and Certified Copies

The Student Records team can confirm dates of attendance and degree classification (if applicable) of students or graduates for employers and third parties with the signed approval of the student or graduate. To obtain proof of qualifications, please email us.

Please note:

  • we will only be able to deal with an enquiry if it is accompanied by an appropriate declaration, signed by the student or graduate concerned;
  • we cannot comment on attendance or personal character;
  • we will not confirm details by phone.

Certified Copies of Degree Certificates

The Student Records Team can provide certified copies of degree certificates for graduates of the University of Aberdeen.

What is a certified copy?

A certified copy will be a photocopy of the original document and stamped and certified as “a copy of the original document” - it is not an apostilled document.

What will it cost?

  • £10 for up to 3 copies plus postal costs if applicable.
