Microarray analysis reveals networks of genes regulated by the MYB36 transcription factor during formation of the Casparian strip in endodermal cells in the root.
A paper recently published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) by University of Aberdeen researchers shows the use of microarrays to investigate gene expression during formation of the Casparian strip in endodermal root cells. This important structure prevents uncontrolled uptake of nutrients and water. The paper identifies MYB36 as a key transcription factor during this process and utilises microarrays to invesigate the genes regulated by this transcription factor.
