IMS has a named Parent Champion who is a friendly point of contact for parents and expectant parents, to gain advice, information and support on a variety of family issues including:

  • Maternity Procedures and Support.
  • Paternity Entitlement and Support.
  • Child Friendly University Procedures

  • Sign post to university groups (i.e. Parents and Carers Network).

Our IMS Parent Champion is Dr Alexandra Pyatnitskaya.

Breastfeeding Friendly Spaces

The IMS offers two Breastfeeding Friendly Spaces (IMS 1.56 and Polwarth 4.016, both with lockable fridges), and breastfeeding is welcomed in all public areas. Polwarth 4.016, which has been designed specifically as a Breastfeeding Friendly Space, is a secure (lockbox entry) and quiet area of the building with lift access that is accessible via a covered walkway from the IMS (see photos below).
