Professor Colin Lumsden

Professor Lumsden graduated from the Universities of St Andrews and Manchester joint medical programme in 1995. He is an honorary Consultant in Paediatric Allergy having joined from the University of Manchester in 2020. He is a Professor of Medical Education, a Director of the Association for the Study of Medical Education and National Teaching Fellow. He was lead for the MBChB programme in Aberdeen from 2020 – 2024 before his appointment as Director, Institute of Education in Healthcare and Medical Sciences and Director of Education for SMMSN.

Dr Gerry Browne leads the MSc programme in Physician Associate Studies. He is a medical educator with experience in admissions, assessment, curriculum design, professionalism and student support.

Dr Donna MacCallum

Lead for Undergraduate Medical Science BSc Degree Programmes

Dr Donna MacCallum graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a BSc (Hons) in Genetics in 1994 and a PhD in Microbiology in 1999. Following postdoctoral research positions on fungal pathogenesis and antifungal therapy, she was promoted to Senior Lecturer in Medical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen in 2012 and promoted to Reader in 2023. Dr MacCallum became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology in 2013 and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy in 2017. She was the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition Lead for Postgraduate Taught degrees from 2016-2023, Institute of Medical Sciences Education lead from 2022-2023 and was appointed as lead for undergraduate medical sciences BSc degree programmes in 2023.

Dr Wendy Watson

Lead for MBChB Programme.

Dr Wendy Watson graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 1995. She is a Consultant Diabetologist for NHS Grampian, specialising in patient and healthcare professional education. As the Clinical Lead Physician for the Diabetes & Endocrine Maternity Service in NHS Grampian, she plays a pivotal role in clinical practice. Since becoming a consultant in 2007, she has been actively involved in the MBChB programme, leveraging her experience from a clinical teaching fellow role during her higher specialty training. Recently, she has also been appointed as an Honorary Reader in Medical Education and is now the MBChB Programme Lead.
