Older Persons Surgical Collaboration (OPSOC)
Since 2014, we have joined the OPSOC collaborative. ACER lead academic Prof. Myint is one of the OPSOC Principal Researchers. OPSOC is a collaboration of Surgeons, Geriatricians and Epidemiologists who are interested in surgery in older people. We finished our first data collection in September 2013. The second data collection was completed in Autumn 2014 and the follow up data from 2015 is nearing completion.
We collect data in Cardiff, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Aberdeen and Ghent. We also work with colleagues in the University of Ghent, Belgium and the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, US.

Ageing and Health Theme (University of Dundee)
We closely work and collaborate with Academic Geriatric Department at Dundee led by Dr Miles Witham. We are one of the main recruiters for Dundee led research projects BICARB, K-SWAY and LACE trials.
We share the same vision of conducting research that makes a real difference in health care and quality of life in older people and are currently working on developing future collaborative projects.
Ageing & Age-associated Disorders Research Group, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Malaysia
In collaboration with Age & Age-associated Disorders Research Group of the University of Malaya we are carrying out cross-cultural research relevant to ageing populations. We contribute to research output of the Malaysian Elders Longitudinal Research (MELoR ) and the Malaysian Falls Assessment and Intervention Trial (MYFAIT )
ABCD study
The ABCD (Anticholinergics, Benzodiazepines, Cognition and Dementia) study aims to understand the effect of anticholinergic medication, benzodiazepine and Z-drug use on cognitive decline and dementia incidence in older people. This three-year study is advancing our knowledge of the effects of specific classes of commonly used medicines on cognitive decline and dementia incidence in the older population.
We are using routine data collected through the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) and data from two cohort studies, the MRC Cognitive Function and Ageing Study (MRC CFAS) and The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).
