Research fellow - UK Antimicrobial Registry
The Epidemiology Group runs and hosts the UK Antimicrobial Registry, funded by the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC). The registry is designed to answer a broad set of research questions around novel anti-microbial agents and, ultimately, to contribute to the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
We are looking to recruit an analyst to work on the registry. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Investigators and other members of the study team and will produce statistical reports important for the running of the registry, take the lead on main registry analysis, and produce and present written/oral output based on this analysis. They may be required, occasionally, to work on other studies, but their primary responsibility will be to the UKAR.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated with experience in the quantitative analysis of large epidemiological health registries or cohort studies. Under the direction of the Chief Investigators, the post-holder will conduct routine analysis and prepare reports to assist in the running of the registry; assist with quality assurance procedures; prepare datasets for analysis by other individuals; analyse registry data; and draft study reports and scientific manuscripts.
Candidates should have the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. In addition, time management, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential.
This is a full-time post based in Aberdeen.

We receive many contacts per year and will only consider those who fit well within at least one of our research themes - so make clear that you do so in a covering letter. Internships
We currently have positions available for undergraduate or postgraduate students who wish to join us on an internship. Our internships give students the opportunity to work on a research project, contribute to publications and participate in training events. Internships must be undertaken as a placement for an on-going degree programme or recognised training programme (e.g. postgraduate medical training) and are self-funded.

Sabbaticals

There are a limited number of fellowships available within the Institute of Applied Health Sciences and the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition and we support applications for fellowships of mutual benefit.
