The Centre for Rural Health at the University of Aberdeen has three main research themes. We aim to achieve an international reputation for academic rigour in these fields through substantial grant funding, postgraduate studentships and excellent publications.

This theme builds on a body of work on mental health, agricultural and leisure associated injuries and remains an integral element of study, focusing on Rural Epidemiology and Well being, Leisure and Lifestyle.

Technology Solutions
eHealth, defined as the use of information and communication technologies locally and at a distance, provides a potential solution to some issues of delivery and training in remote and rural settings, particularly as mobile networks and broadband internet increase penetration into peripheral communities.

- Child Health and Development

The foundations for lifelong health are laid in childhood and factors promoting and hindering children's wellbeing are therefore of central importance to the health of communities.
Research based in CRH has included observational studies, secondary analyses of cohort data, service evaluations and randomised trials of interventions designed to improve the wellbeing of children.
