HSRU offers summer student work placements to current University of Aberdeen students wishing to improve their knowledge and experience in a research-focused environment.
This year we welcome 8 student interns, 4 working on projects with the CHaRT programming team and 4 working on Health Services Research projects.
Agata Kostrzewa and Stefania Pirosca have commenced their internships and have provided an insight into their research projects.
Agata Kostrzewa
"My name is Agata Kostrzewa, I am a 3rd year MA Sociology student at the University and I am one of the summer interns at the HSRU. The project I am working on is related to the Baby Box scheme which was introduced by the Scottish Government in 2017. More specifically, it aims to investigate how Baby Boxes have been received by the public and the media. Over the course of my internship I am also hoping to gain more knowledge of the potential long-term social benefits of implementing the scheme."
Stefania Pirosca
"My name is Stefania Pirosca and I am a first-year student of Neuroscience with Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. This summer I am glad to be an intern at the HSRU, working together with Prof Shaun Treweek. The project I am involved in is related to the trial design improvements suggested by Cochrane systematic reviewers. Through this project I hope to have a deeper understanding of what research means and what are the challenges raised over time as I also consider a career in this domain."
Welcome to all our student interns and we hope you enjoy your summer placement with HSRU.
