This week, the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) welcomed Ivana Goluza, Research Strategy Project Officer from the Agency of Clinical Innovation, New South Wales, Australia. Ivana is specifically interested in how existing audit and feedback laboratories worldwide were setup and run. Lessons learnt will impact how the Agency of Clinical Innovation leverage audit and feedback laboratories into Australia.
Audit and feedback is an effective quality improvement strategy that provides health professionals with quantitative summaries of their clinical performance.
HSRU, through the Translation Research in a dental setting programme (TRiaDS), is one of the several laboratories part of the international audit and feedback meta-laboratory. The main aim of this initiative is to advance the science and impact of audit and feedback by fostering international collaborations. HSRU has a long history advancing the methodology of this type of intervention, having conducted the largest trial in dentistry testing different versions and frequencies of audit and feedback. Dr Eilidh Duncan has been recently awarded a post-doc fellowship from the THIS Institute to maximise the potential of the intervention.
Working with Ivana was a great opportunity to learn more about other health systems and how audit and feedback has been used in New South Wales, Australia. We look forward to more learning opportunities and collaborations in the future and wish Ivana all the best in her travels to other laboratories!
