The University of Aberdeen and the Royal Statistical Society are delighted to invite S4, S5 and S6 pupils to attend a lecture delivered by Dr Jeff Ralph (Office for National Statistics).
Dr Ralph was selected as the Royal Statistical Society “William Guy Lecturer” for 2017-18 and this is a unique opportunity to introduce school pupils to statistics in a fun and engaging way.
Young people born in the year 2000 in the UK are more likely to be called Megan or Jack than Mary or John, had a life expectancy at birth of over 75 years and about half will go on to higher education. How was this different a hundred years ago? Official statistics tell the story of how our lives have developed over a century of dramatic change.
Please contact us (Beatriz Goulao, Lorna Aucott or David Cooper) if you have a class in mind to take part in the lecture, as space is limited.
Beatriz Goulao and David Cooper will be engaging the attendees with our Polo trial before it starts. If anyone in the unit wants to join them, please get in touch.
