HSRU's Prof Shaun Treweek is the new chair of the Chief Scientist Office Health Improvement, Protection and Services Research (HIPS) Committee.
Prof Treweek takes over from Professor Robert Steele, University of Dundee, who stepped down on 11th December after 15 years on the committee and five as chair. Dr Charis Marwick, University of Dundee, takes on Shaun’s previous role as Vice-chair.
‘This is an important committee for research funding in Scotland so it’s a privilege to be both a member and now chair.’ said Prof Treweek. ‘The committee has a superb bunch of people on it; I learn something at every meeting. I’m looking forward to doing my bit to ensure that we fund the very best research.’
The HIPS Committee considers two rounds of applications each year, with each round being a two-stage process (outline then invitation to full proposal). The next deadline for outline submissions is Friday 29th June 2018. More information is available at http://www.cso.scot.nhs.uk/funding-2/response-mode-funding-schemes/
