Chief Scientist Office (CSO) is part of the Scottish Government Health Directorates. Their vision is to support and increase the level of high-quality health research conducted in Scotland. You can find information on the CSO grant schemes on this link. We are pleased to announce that Dr Tom Barlow, CSO Senior Research Manager - Health Improvement, Protection and Services Research, will be visiting the University of Aberdeen for a CSO Funding Seminar.

CSO Funding Seminar Schedule:

- Dr Tom Barlow will give a presentation on CSO funding opportunities, remit of calls, CSO expectations and common reasons that lead to unsuccessful applications.

- Professor Amanda Lee, Professor Shaun Treweek and Dr Verity Watson (recent/ present panel members of CSO funding committees) will give their own reflections on (i) what makes a good proposal, (ii) what makes a bad proposal, (iii) how to avoid turning your idea into a bad proposal. Also, they will provide advice for applications that include clinical trials, statistics and health economics.
