We are delighted that Professor Graham Scotland has taken up the position of Interim Director at HERU. Graham has worked in HERU for 20 years, first joining as a research fellow in 2004. We are looking forward to continued success for the Unit under Graham’s leadership.
Graham takes over from Professor Mandy Ryan. Mandy has left HERU after 37 years, including over 11 years as Director between 2013 and July 2024. Mandy steered HERU through changing times latterly and has been instrumental in cementing HERU’s reputation as a centre of excellence in health economics research. We are pleased that she will continue to contribute to HERU as an Emeritus Professor.
Professor Marjon van der Pol will also continue as Emeritus Professor with HERU after leaving in July. Marjon joined HERU in 1995, and again in 2004 after three years at the University of Calgary. Marjon had roles of Director of Teaching and Deputy Director at HERU and made a great contribution to the success of the Unit.
We wish both Mandy and Marjon all the best in their new adventures and thank them for their invaluable contributions, both to life in HERU, and to health economics more generally.
