Lives and livelihoods during a pandemic - latest HERU Blog post

Our latest HERU Blog post looks at a new project to examine public preferences for government responses during a pandemic. The public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic has involved measures such as lockdowns to slow the spread of the virus. The health and economic impacts of the lockdowns have highlighted the need to balance protecting the population and the healthcare system with the impact on the economy and personal freedoms. Our study will use a discrete choice experiment to measure people's preferences for lockdown measures and the trade-offs they are willing to make between personal sacrifice and public good.
