The latest HERU Blog post highlights our current project researching the treatment preferences of patients with secondary breast cancer. With researchers from the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian, the INFO-BC project aims to get a better understanding of what is important to secondary breast cancer patients when making treatment decisions. We are using a discrete choice experiment (DCE) to identify the treatment preferences of patients, healthcare professionals and the general public. We can analyse the DCE results to identify not only what matters most to patients about their care, but also understand if the other groups value the same things. We hope the results of the research will support shared decision making in the care of patients with secondary breast cancer.
We are posting the blog article in October to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to share some of our current research into the care and treatment of people with breast cancer.
