Title: The Recovering Quality of Life (ReQoL): can it be the new instrument to generate QALYs in evaluating mental health interventions?

Abstract: This talk will cover the new patient reported outcome measure (PROM) for use in mental health called the Recovering Quality of Life (ReQoL). The ReQoL was commissioned by the Department of Health and was developed with active involvement of service users as research partners. Since its development, over 200 licences have been granted to organisations and individuals wishing to use the ReQoL. It has been translated in over 9 languages. Further validation work has shown the ReQoL to be a valid and acceptable measure for use across a wide range of mental health conditions. Preference weights have been generated for the ReQoL using item response theory (IRT) to construct the health classification system and choose the health states for valuation. The generation of the preference weights had to take into consideration a hybrid method of combining mental health items with one physical health item. The ReQoL Utility Index (ReQoL-UI) is currently being empirically compared with EQ-5D in a number of projects.

This seminar has been cancelled, we hope to re-arrange in the future.
