Changes to GCP/GRP training criteria
During the Global COVID-19 Health Pandemic the required frequency of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Research Practice (GRP) refresher training, detailed in SOP-QA-34, was extended from two years to three years. This was for the duration of the declared COVID-19 pandemic only.
This temporary situation has now been revoked and the required frequency of refresher training has returned to two years from May 17 2022. All staff involved in the conduct of clinical trials are expected to attend approved training if the time since their last refresher is more than two years.
Please note that if the duration since the last Good Clinical Practice (GCP) introduction or refresher training exceeds three years, a researcher must complete the Introduction to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, rather than the refresher training.
Currently, some face to face courses and workshops are not running. If you have any queries, please contact the training team on gram.randdtraining@nhs.scot .
Please note that our training department is in the process of a transition period of new Training Facilitators who will require training. Please bear with us during this time. In the meantime, please contact the training team email above with any queries.
The Training Team works closely with our partners across NHS Grampian, the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University to provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of researchers and associated staff. We collaborate with education staff in Clinical Research Facilities across the UK to ensure a cohesive and standardised programme of education opportunities are available to researchers.
Good Clinical Practice/Good Research Practice
We offer Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Research Practice (GRP) courses that are relevant to the type of clinical research that you do. If you are unsure which course is relevant for you try our Questionnaire & Algorithm on the GCP/GRP Training page. You can also contact us by email: gram.randdtraining@nhs.scot
Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
GCP training is currently available via face-to-face sessions held on-site at Foresterhill. Please see the Good Clinical Practice and Good Research Practice Training page for dates and booking info.
Certificates for any of the above training must be emailed to the R&D training department for our records at the above email address.

Research Practice Series (RPS)
Our Research Practice Series is a growing portfolio of short courses designed to enhance your knowledge of the research process. Each course further develops the research procedures introduced in the GCP/GRP courses.
Please see our RPS page for more detail.
Seminars
The Training Team also run a series of seminars. Seminars for 2022 have begun and are being held either on-site or via Microsoft Teams, depending on the speaker's preference/availability.
Please refer to our dedicated seminar page .
Bespoke sessions
The training team can offer bespoke sessions to research teams where appropriate. However, resources are limited and requests will be assessed on an individual basis.
All training courses provided by the team are free to NHS Grampian, University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University staff and students. However there will be a charge levied for researchers from commercial companies or private individuals and these costs will be available on request.
Please email us at gram.randdtraining@nhs.scot to enquire about course availability.
Our courses will no longer be available to view on the CRTS website but will be moved to the NHS Research Scotland website along with courses from other regions in Scotland. We will announce when this change is to take place.
