Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal cord injury is a global problem which often results in paralysis and has devastating consequences. More than half of cases occur in young males with common causes being sports injuries and road accidents. Unfortunately less than 1% of such injuries recover naturally as the damage related to nerve cell death prevents nerve regrowth.

Our newly formed Spinal Injury Research Team has therefore been established with the aim of developing a multi-disciplinary approach to nerve regrowth. The group comprises world leaders in this field and no such combined scientific expertise in this area exists anywhere else in the UK.

We have recently received generous funding from Scottish Rugby, Scottish businessman Willie Watt and other donors to further our spinal cord injury research.

Now you too can help us find new ways to treat spinal cord injury. Donate now by clicking to the left.
