NASA's quest on Mars has always been to 'follow the water' - the Department of Planetary Sciences at the University of Aberdeen are on course to play a role in that mission.
Led by Professor Javier Martín-Torres, the team have developed HABIT - a tool to test the 'water cycle' on Mars.
There are hypotheses about how and when water might appear on Mars, but this has never been seen or captured in real time.
The HABIT tool will help inform scientists about how water could be produced on the Red Planet.
