It is a pleasure to announce that between Monday 26th and Wednesday 28th September the Department of Geography & Environment will be hosting Professor Hildegardo Cordova Aguilar of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Lima, Peru). Professor Cordova Aguilar is an internationally esteemed environmental geographer specialising in environmental sustainability and the impacts of climate change on human activity. Professor Cordova Aguilar’s visit to Aberdeen follows on from the workshop on green economy transitions which Drs Piotr Niewiadomski and Tavis Potts organised in Peru earlier this year in cooperation with Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Lima, Peru) and Universidad Cientifica Del Sur (Lima, Peru). The workshop has resulted in valuable research links between Aberdeen and both Peruvian partner universities. Professor Cordova Aguilar’s visit serves to strengthen these links and lay the foundations under cooperation on other fronts. During his visit Professor Cordova Aguilar will deliver a guest seminar entitled ‘Vulnerability of Lima’s Peripheral Human Settlements to Climate Change’. More details on the seminar can be found here. All are welcome to attend.
