Doerthe Tetzlaff received £20K in funding from the IGB Leibniz Institute (Institute for Freshwater Ecology) in Germany to support a PhD studentship. Jason Lessels, Postdoc on the NERC-funded HYDRA project, and Claire Tunaley, PhD student in the hydrology group, have successfully completed field work in Canada and Aberdeen, respectively. Marjolein van Huijgevoort was a speaker at the annual Krycklan symposium at SLU Umea, Sweden in September 2014, an event she combined with a research visit to the Krycklan research site. Bas Buddendorf, a new PhD student supervised by Chris Soulsby and Josie Geris, presented a poster at the inaugural meeting of the Scottish Government’s Hydronation Scholars Scheme. Finally, congratulations to Dr Jonathan Dick, who successfully defended his PhD thesis in November, and started a postdoc position in the hydrology group working on the hydrology and biogeochemistry of northern catchments.
Hydrology group experiences a busy fall
