Former Aberdeen Geography Professor David Sugden returns to Aberdeen to receive prestigious award
Professor David Sugden, who served on the staff of the University of Aberdeen’s Department of Geography for twenty years from 1970-1990, is returning to Aberdeen on 5th September 2012 to be awarded the Seligman Crystal by the International Glaciological Society.
The Seligman Crystal is the most prestigious international honour bestowed by the International Glaciological Society, awarded to “one who has made an outstanding scientific contribution to glaciology so that the subject is now enriched.” We are delighted that Professor Sugden has chosen to accept the award where his illustrious career began, as part of the 37th International Glaciological Society British Branch meeting being hosted by Aberdeen.
The presentation of the award to Professor Sugden, incorporating his presentation “A Geomorphologist in the Glaciological World,” takes place on Wednesday 5th September, St Mary’s Building (Geography and Environment), Room 105, 17:30-18:30.
