School of Geosciences student, K Gow, has been shortlisted for the John Byrne Award for her installation 'Remote / Far away' which challenges external perceptions of Scotland's offshore islands.
The work addresses questions around how we define places a remote or peripheral and was installed on an abandoned signpost at Feolin Ferry on Jura, where Gow lives, for six months during 2021. 'Remote / Far away' was one of 8 pieces shortlisted from over 800 entries for the annual award which aims to encourage thought and debate about the beliefs and ideas that drive our actions as communities and individuals.
