The Aberdeen Geography cohort of 1971 had a 50th reunion, back in Aberdeen, on the 3rd of September, showing that the friendships made at University are for life. Fortunately, the COVID restrictions had eased sufficiently that the majority of those still based in the UK could attend. International travel restrictions unfortunately meant that those who now live abroad could not make it. All however contributed a piece to their reunion website. One of their former lecturers, the eminent Professor Emeritus David Sugden (University of Edinburgh), attended and entertained us with some reminiscences of teaching and engaging in some demonstrations with them. Current staff members Tim Mighall and Brice Rea joined attended the event and updated them on the current Department and the 50 years in between.
