The University of Aberdeen is embarking on a new and ambitious programme of investment with up to one hundred new academic positions are on offer.
We seek a candidate with a strong track record of research linking Digital Economy to socio-economic issues. A priority area is sustainable societies (e.g. impacts of digital technologies on behaviour change; ICT built-environment interactions) but applicants with wider interests in the interactions between technology and society are encouraged to apply. Closing date for applications is: Friday 4th May 2012.
The successful candidate is likely to have a background in Geography or a related discipline and will be expected to provide research leadership (at Senior Lecturer/Chair level), as well as contribute to core teaching at Masters and Undergraduate levels. The appointment may be at any level (Lecturer to Chair), and consideration will be given to the contribution the applicants would make to the Human Geography and institutional Digital Economy research strategy.
Human Geography staff make strong contributions to a high impact programme of RCUK-funded multi-disciplinary research in Digital Economy (specifically the dot.rural Digital Economy Hub, www.dotrural.ac.uk) and provide intellectual leadership in the social science component of Digital Economy research. Human Geography hosts the Centre for Transport Research (www.abdn.ac.uk/ctr), whose research is fundamental to this collaboration.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Chris Gibbins (Acting Head of Discipline) c.gibbins@abdn.ac.uk or Professor Chris Soulsby (Head of School) c.soulsby@abdn.ac.uk.
